Life is a bit of a bitch Lately things have been stressful and I haven't written about them because I'd hoped they would all go away if I didn't mention them. Well it doesn't work. My parents 87 and 92 have had a lot of health crisis since January. Dad had a bowel blockage with hospitalization and gall bladder removal at another time. Mom had had ( Read more... )

There's no way around it, dealing with parents in medical crisis is difficult on the children. I know it took a toll on me when I was in the midst of it. Just try to take time for yourself and know your limits. I hope it gets better soon... hugs...

I am so sorry for the stress you're going through. Know that a lot of us have been there (nearly all of us will go through this) and (speaking only for myself) feel free to vent/ask questions. This is a hard time in a child's life, when one's parents are in their last years. There's no two ways about it - unless you're stinking rich, it sucks. No one wants to see their folks fade, and the folks themselves aren't happy about it either. It's expensive and unpleasant and even if you do the best you can, at the end of it they're gone. That's the way it is.

But if you have done what you can to make their last years as OK as possible (and it sounds like you're doing your best), you've done everything humanly possible. Try not to judge yourself or your siblings at this time, and be sure to take care of yourself, too. Your folks would want that - and they know you're doing your best.

I'm sorry to read about all the stress you're under. I do hope things become less stressful for you soon. And I hope you can find some time for yourself *Hugs*

I do understand the whole parent thing; it's incredibly stressful. *Sends good vibes*

Wow, talk about stress! No wonder you haven't had time to hang around here. My hat is off to you for having to deal with all of this. At least they are in a safe place at the moment. I hope that they will be happy there - my in-laws adored their retirement home.

I hope that the home sale goes well. Getting an older house ready for market is a task unto itself. One of my other LJ friends just went through that. Another hat's off to you!

Stay strong and please give my best to your dh sister. *hugs*

I feel for you and I'm sorry it's your turn to go through this. It sounds like your brothers have stepped up to the plate in their own way and that's great. Stay strong. {{{hugs}}}
