Oh!

Whole Foods just bought Wild Oats.

Does that leave any natural food chains left not owned by Whole Foods?

New Frontiers is an AZ natural food chain that is not owned by Whole Foods, as far as I know.

I think there's one in Columbus, OH, with a few locations, but for all I know they could be secretly owned by them or not have enough branches to count as a chain...

Wild Oats was certainly the only chain-level competition I know of out this way.

Erewhon, maybe? I'd have sworn I'd seen multiple store locations for them but their website says they only have the one store, so, I guess not a chain.

I dunno, but it annoys me to no end that there are seven (or was it nine?) WF locations in Illinois, and they're all in the Chicago area, w/in reasonable driving distance of each other.

Yet I'm SOL in finding a nat'l/whole foods supply here. At least, not a readily apparent one. Hopefully my new mommy network will enlighten me.
