Well they did it: rice with human genes has been approved for field growth trials in Kansas. The argument is that the GM rice can produce compounds found in human breast milk and can therefore make ant diarrhea drugs. So, if we are going to take such a big step as putting human genes into a food crop...does it have to be for curing diarrhea? Couldn't it at least be a cure for diabetes or cancer?

I think that we are getting into an area of science that can either do very well or create some very scary unintended effects. I don't know much about nantotechnology, but I really hope that those out there perpetuating it have good morals and ethics and are very cautious.
