Itchy nipple

Nov 19, 2007 15:38

My right nipple itches. At times it's pretty bad, and scratching it does help. It's been itching for the last 3 months or so, so I figure it's probably time to see a doctor.

However, here's the weird thing--the itch is inside the nipple. The outside of the nipple and the rest of my breast look exactly normal. Exactly like her sister on the left. No ( Read more... )

that happens to me too. for me, i think it's just a dermatitis thing. it's super irritating but not harmful. i switch to cotton bras and use lush dusting powder, but make sure all is super dry first. good luck!

Uh, did you get this whole nipple thing worked out? I once had a spider bite on my nipple, that was hellish.

I didn't go to the doctor yet. Shortly after writing this I started PMSing and both of my breasts hurt like a motherfucker if you so much as breathed on them, let alone touched them. They're still pretty tender and since I assume there will be a lot of pressing and pushing with the exam, I'm going to wait until it settles down. Or at least until the other breast settles down so I'll know the pain is just in the one .

The thread on Green sparked my memory this morning and I was wondering if you've taken care of this yet, young lady. *worries*

Well, mostly. After a bunch of amateur obsessive research, I think what the issue was/is is a yeast infection. I read about a lot of women who had these exact symptoms with a yeast infection even though they weren't breastfeeding. I had some leftover antifungal cream so I started using that but it wasn't helpful, and then I realized it expired in 2006 (duh). So I recently started taking acidophilis capsules and that has really made a difference. Every so often it will itch, but not constantly and deeply like it was doing before, so I do think it was yeast.

So if it doesn't get better OR GETS WORSE, you're gonna make a doctor's appointment, right? RIGH?!? *raises eyebrow and plots a way to figure out Shelby's doctor's phone number*

Absolutely! I'm due for a physical and need some refills on some medicines, so I'm going to be making an appointment most likely in the next couple of weeks. I figure if it's not completely gone by then, I'll mention it. I was thinking if it is yeast and it's still not going away, a dose of Diflucan could probably clear it up too. Thanks for your concern though *fuzzy feeling*.
