I thought the stuff with Howard was kind of interesting. Like, what was his actual motivation for going back up even though he hated it? I don't think it was just willful forgetfulness.
I think maybe it could just be that he's been back from the first time long enough that he's worried people are forgetting about his achievements? We know from the first time around that he bragged like crazy about it, even if he did hate it up there, what with giving people signed photos and stuff. Even though he manufactured a lot of the attention that he got, in a way, maybe he misses that attention?
I was thinking something along those lines with Howard as well. I would think that it would be hard to be in his position. I think it would feel like his career has plateaued, that he won't do anything as important again, and would want to feel that one space trip wasn't "it" for him.
You know, a lot of times I do think the group is too nit picky with Sheldon, but this wasn't one of those times. I thought he was being beyond ridiculous. And I can't believe no one made any arguments like "Proper dining room chairs are better for posture". Or talked about the history of dining/feasting together at a table. Or likened it to a banquet hall like something out of a fantasy show. There was just a lot of angles they could have tried. -_-
And since there's no episode 14 discussion thread, and I just caught up, I have to say I *loved* the Sheldon & James Earl Jones interactions. It was really nice to see someone respond to Sheldon's enthusiasm and admiration in a positive way. I mean, his stalker behavior was inappropriate but still.
I was having a discussion on Tumblr about TBBT and how Sheldon could be autistic or he could be just being an asshole, and Tazzygal linked me to a post of hers where she discusses Sheldon as the Villain Protagonist. Darned if this episode wasn't a perfect example of that.
And that's a very good point. But I'm tired of seeing 'impartial' reviewers (i.e. tvfanatic) go on and on and on AND ON about how mean/rude/inconsiderate/whatever Sheldon is, and how unreasonable he is, therefore deserving the torment and bullying he gets, but when Leonard and/or Amy does something equally as bad, or worse, well . . . that's fine. It's who they are, and they have the right to have people bowing down to them and their wishes.
Of course, the writers giving us crap like this episode don't help. Dammit. I really do miss the days of quirky and (somewhat) neurotic friends; this toxic cesspool is painful to watch.
I'm trying to avoid ranting or character bashing, but honestly? Everyone was manipulating everyone else this episode, except poor Raj, who seems to have replaced Howard at the bottom of the pecking order. Not to mention that I thought he was absolutely right when he was saying nobody cared while he was the one sitting on the floor, but as soon as it was Penny, it was a problem

As always, I'll have to wait for the episode to air in my country.
Meanwhile, just like week I saw the Amy & Sheldon kiss and it was intense, man. The hand on the hip was a little heavy handed but Jim is the bomb. It's too bad they'll probably regress him. He did seem even more insufferable up until the kiss. It makes me think they worsen him a little for shock value when he does stuff like this.
Also him hanging out with Jame Earl Jones was nice. I wonder if Sheldon felt something when he was realising James was a little too much even for him. Probably not.
James Earl Jones was amazing though. He was absolutely lovely. My mom, my sister and I liked him a lot.
I read the raping report for this and I just felt it was too much from Sheldon, wonder how it is now with the final product.
Your reply made me stare at my screen for about five minutes before I realized: 'Misnape' is apparently a Harry Potter term.
God only knows where it came from, but it's a fun word, so I use it when the situation fits. I didn't mean to confuse you -- but if it made you laugh, I've succeeded. :-p
I actually enjoyed this episode for the most part. I loved james earl jones... hilarious... honestly, i love this site out of nostalgia... because it was there with me and i was with a community of peldon and shenny when i was alone in a foreign city for the first time. So I have some very deep fond feelings for this site...Now?... I remember when the forums and discussions were pages long and went on for days and days... Now?... I will always love and respect the authors and mods... their works were awesome and the writing contests were the highlights of my year... now?... It's like a picture of friends you went to high school with... you keep it on your dresser and you look it and laugh at your funny hair and smile at the friendships... but you haven't called these people in years and your friends now probably don't even know who they are and you are all different people now...i think the show and the forum has moved more into penny with others and sheldon with others but not their interactions together... platonic or otherwise...

I did attempt to register at their discussion forum, but I was told that I wasn't welcome.

Oh my god Amy. AMY. Amy's a frigging genius.
I feel like there should be a giant INTERVENTION sign when Howard walks into the apartment.

I was going to snort at your misnape, but given what they've done to the show, 'raping' is way, *way* too accurate.
(also, JEJ earned an actual squeal of delight from me. my cats thought I'd lost my mind)

Apparently it's contagious?
