While I liked seeing Stuart doing something that seemed to make him genuinely happy, the loss of the comic book shop feels like an omen for the path the show seems to be taking. TPTB are slowly pulling these guys away from their nerd lifestyle into something more banal and "grown up". This bothers me because a) it tells me (and more importantly my geek kids) that there's something shameful about geek culture, and b) it reduces this once unique show into one about a group of friends and their relationships, i.e. something that's been done 1000 times before. RIP comic book shop.
I've always thought this was a show about laughing at geeks/geek culture rather than being for it. In the first couple seasons it was easy to go with it, in that "poking fun at ourselves" kind of way. But since then, they have continued to drive home the point that it's childish, stupid, and something to grow up from. :/
That episode about the guys getting their car stolen while they stopped for a cosplay photo shoot really hit it home for me.
This episode has not been shown over here yet, but I've read a lot about it. I've watched and loved TBBT since episode one but even I know its long past its sale by date and now we have what... 2 more seasons of Leonard going around grinning all the time telling people about the wedding with Penny slowly drinking herself to death. Sadly they'll just run the show in to the ground till the next one comes along. OK that my rant done.
Just out of curiosity, have people given up on the idea of Sheldon and Penny together? Truthfully, I am not a real shipper of Penny and Sheldon, although I have thought it could be an interesting idea. The reason I ask is that there are so few comments and this seems to be happening ever since the middle of this past season when it definitely looks like Leonard and Penny are destined to be together.
By the way, I am not a Lenny shipper. The character of Leonard actually annoys me most of the time.
