Would the landlord accept a faxed signature from Laura - in which case you might be able to get a signature sheet from the lease faxed to her mum's work, signed and faxed back - just a thought - to be honest, no idea if it's legal or not
( ... )
Cheers :-) The only problem with the old utilities is we're moving out on the 16th, but Neil is staying until the end of June. Do we just call them when we move with the current meter reading, and let them deal with what Neil uses once we're gone?
It's just going to be a pain in the arse having the bill sent to us in our new place, and then having to chase up Mike and Neil for their share, particularly since Neil will probably make life difficult if he's gotta deal with the final two weeks himself.
It would be far easier if the landlord wasn't a useless cunt.
Whose name is on the bills? and when does your lease actually run out? If it's your name and you're officially not living there from the 16th (i.e. lease has expired rather thna lease runs to July 1st and you're just not there) then anything after that is not your problem. It's down to Neil and the landlord then. Take the readings, and send them in. If you're on the lease until the end of the month then technically you're responisble for any leccy used until then and you should get a meter reading at the end of June.
To be honest, the best thing to do is take readings in a day or so anyway, go online and put the readings into your account - most suppliers will let you enter interim readings online and they then update the amount due on your bill to match the reading within a couple of days. That way you can get money off the others up to that reading and at worst you have two weeks power to deal with. It will mean going back to get a meter reading when Neil moves out to sort the last bit but you're looking at a few quid, nothing more
It's Matt's name on the bills, and the rent agreement ends at the end of June. We're handing our keys back to the landlord on June 23rd since he's pissed off on holiday now.
We don't have a telephone line where we are now. We don't need it, we don't need one in the new place either, but we DO need internet. I don't think there's a cable supply up there, so we need the phone line sorting.
We considered all in one packages, but they're all rubbish since we want unlimited internet usage, we don't actually need a phone (since we all have contract phones) and we don't need the tv either really since we're used to only having non-digital tv and laura has a freeview box.
It's all one big massive fuck off pain in the arse and now i just want to stay exactly where I am. The mould isn't that bad once you get used to it anyway.
No, I just went through the whole moving flat thing six months ago with the whole changing leccy suppliers and moving my cable contract too - not so much knowledgeable as equally stressed :)
I have nothing productive to say I'm afraid my dear, but I get what you mean about everything getting on top of you. Hope you're feeling a bit better about it all now.
I am just off to go and fight with the printer now so I can sign the contract and then I can, in theory, post it back to you tomorrow.
