You can do it! Just...drink a little before hand or something. Or get alcohol on the plane - that's probably a better idea. Use the money you saved from the cheaper ticket to buy alcohol to get you drunk enough to not be scared :) Alternative is to use cold medicine to knock you out for the flight, that or motion sickness medicine - something to make you drowsy enough so you won't care. But I don't know if I would go that route; you'll be all woozy and half-asleep in Vegas.
Lol, my bf suggested alcohol, too. I don't think I'd be able to do it, though, seeing as how I don't like to drink at all. But thanks for the advice :)
Hmmm...how about getting a really really good book, one long enough to keep you busy? Because then you'd get so wrapped up in the story that you'd not pay attention to the flight. And put headphones on too, to block out all the noise associated, and help you ignore what's going on.
Flying by yourself is totally okay as long as you specify an aisle or window seat (aisle if you plan on having to pee while you're on the flight). The only possible snafu would be if one of your friends has a delayed flight, so make sure you're all very clear about where and when you're meeting and are all staying in regular contact.
What exactly are you scared of? If you're scared of actually flying, flying with your friends won't make the plane any less likely to crash than if you were flying by yourself, nor will it make you less likely to need a barf bag if you get motion sickness. So don't concentrate on that. Just save yourself the money for some fire outfits and more drinks

I'm scared of all of the above! The actual flying, getting lost, all of that. I'm such a scaredy cat, I worry about everything and I just need someone I know there to hold my hand with me the whole time.
I understand. Maybe it's b/c I've been sort of que sera, que sera my whole life. But goodness knows when I flew the first time, I was terrified that I would go to the wrong gate or get my times mixed up or miss my boarding call. The flight itself didn't worry me, and it was fine. (Esp. from Atlanta to B'ham, it was only 30 minutes. I wish all trips could be that short.)
The worst part for me is the overlay, b/c that's one more airport for you to possibly get lost in, and the waiting game will drive you crazy, I won't lie. When I flew back to B'more, my first flight was 45 minutes early and my next flight was delayed 45 minutes. I had to read all my magazines reaaaaaallly slowly. Twice. This I thought I was going to scream. But for you the hardest thing to overcome will probably be the fear of flying. Once that plane takes off, it's out of your hands, so it's really futile to stress about it, but It's hard for most people to not stress.
you will be fine. i was scared to fly, but when i was flying, i was more freaked out about other people freaking out. its really not that bad. its actually kind of cool to look out the window and see the world from above.
bring a book, or a CD, take nap, have some wine...you can do it, i believe in you!
