Shut up, Miss Alli

I got my first ever warning on TWoP today. I've been posting on the boards since December '05 and I've never gotten a warning. And of course it would come in the VM media thread in a post about Rob Thomas. Someone posted this ( Read more... )

You were seriously warned? medchem April 25 2007, 12:49:23 UTC
I remember reading your post and I did not think that it was anything to warrent a warning over. That board frustrates me too. I originally started reading postings over there because of how much Rob Thomas had talked about it because seriously some people over there are really mean and negative. You would think they would get it out in the whole negative things thread (which I can't even bring myself to open and read) instead of carrying all that hostility into the other threads. I think it just sucks that you feel like you should avoid the place, it should be the one place where all VM fans should feel they can go but unfortunately it isn't.

Yeah, the negativity is all spread out over there. I had to stop reading the Logan/Veronica thread after awhile because of it. And I hear that there's a bunch of it in the spec with spoilers thread, although I'm not spoiled so I never go in there anyway.

You got a warning for that? Really? For crying out loud, if that deserves a warning, I can think of at least a dozen people there who should be banned for life (and beyond) based upon their "attitudes." It's ridiculous.

While, personally, I'm looking forward to RT's interview because I actually enjoy hearing (and often agree with) his take on things, I have to back up some of the other poster's sentiments in that I'm not looking forward to the post-interview comments. They'll inevitably consist mostly of hysterics, overreactions, and a month of twisting every single thing he says into something beyond recognition. Like how his constructive criticism of season 1 immediately turned into "OMG, RT *HATES* season one and thinks we're all idiots for liking any of it! DIE, RT, DIE!" It is exhausting.

It's ridiculous that every time RT or KB gives an interview, I feel like I have to brace myself going into any of those threads. Unfortunately, it's difficult to avoid if you want to read any discussions at all. :(

Yeah, I have no problem with people disagreeing with RT (or KB) but sometimes it just seems like they are just looking for something to complain about and you're right, everything gets twisted around. So even though I'm looking forward to what he has to say, too, I'm sure the boards will be unbearable for awhile with all the hysterics.

Just wanted to say that I totally agree with what you posted and it was stupid of them to give you a warning over that.

What you said was the absolute truth. You weren't specifically bashing anyone but, just stating a fact of the matter.

Some people will always find a reason to pick apart what Rob says and it makes you wonder why they even read it if they're predetermined to dislike the interview.

I'm sorry, but the poster above you had more attitude than you, in my opinion. At least, your post was no more offensive than theirs. And you're both right, he does say something to set off fans, (usually contradicting something he said previously, as I understand it) and there are people who still want to hear what he has to say regardless. Dumb person.
