FLIST, ADVISE ME PLEASE

Hey everyone, I need your honest opinions regarding a non-essential purchase.

Currently, the Sideshow Frodo and Samwise dolls (the originals, not the exclusive models) are available as a Second Chance Opportunity for $70 each.  I certainly do not NEED these dolls, I just WANT them.

Is it wasteful to spend $140 (s/h) on a whim?  Yes, that money ( Read more... )

Well, I'm not exactly the one to blame you if you want to buy those dolls, since I already bought them all.

They're just amazing and, although I didn't need them either, I simply couldn't resist.

Maybe you should try and have a look on eBay to see if you can find them both at a lower price and feel slightly less guilty! I found them both on eBay and I saved at least a 20% on the pair.

So my opinion is: if this purchase makes you happy then just go on. Life is one and hobbits are a big part of it!

You are my inspiration, Mely. I don't have my own hobbit doll house, but I'll need to get creative to make some entertaining photo vignettes.

Btw, I did see a set of dolls on eBay, but they were selling for close to the Sideshow price. I appreciate your support, dearest.

Awww, you're so sweet saying so! *blushes*

So it seems that you have already decided! I think it was the right decision. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with them (and, on a selfish note, the more hobbity pics are posted, the happier I am!)

Yay for hobbit love and friendship!

My advice, as one who didn't need them and at the time certainly didn't have the extra cash lying around:

BUY THEM!!!

They are very well done, with lots of nice little details, the photograph brilliantly and are SO DAMN MUCH FUN!!

They've given me far more than $140 worth of pleasure!!

Thank you, Belle. I'm looking forward to seeing the dolls in person. Sometimes I really need (several) other points of view!

*hugs*

*puts money aside for Oso merchandise* Lol!

Hee I was watching Oso this morning and thinking how much I wanted an Oso doll! Hello Disney! You're missing a golden merchandizing opportunity!!

Obviously, buy them. Your joy will far outweight the purchase price and outlast whatever else you could have bought with the money. And no doubt you will be sharing doll-squee and/or pics with your flist, thereby increasing the amount of happiness in the world generally. What are you waiting for?

Eeeeee! You are such a sweetheart.

Btw *whispers* The deed is done! Now I just need to figure out how to get photos from the camera onto my journal.

I have a bad habit of feeling guilty whenever I treat myself to something 'frivolous.' I really need to get a grip because life is too short for such nonsense.

Thank you, Mewsie.

You need these dolls. I have a friend who always tells me: "If it delights you, it's worthwhile." Life doesn't always have to be about practical. You won't regret it. I promise.

What did you think we were going to tell you? :D

I hope I can remember your friend's wise words in future, Linwe. If there's one thing I dislike, it's regrets.
