Awww, these are both lovely and I hadn't seen either one before. I like the second one for the relaxed atmosphere and I love the first one for the care and gentleness in Sam and the signs of horrors past in Frodo - it feels as I can see the nightmare he had to go through just by the way his brow and eyes look.
Thank you for this lovely contribution to Hobbit Month. (Somehow this post didn't show up on my flist at all - I only found it when I went to your LJ directly. Did you fiddle with the time option of the post? That often makes posts disappear from flists.)
Stef, I'm sorry you had to search around for my Hobbit Month post. I DID fiddle with the date and the time, because I did this on the 13th, but didn't want to cause any confusion. I apologize! I hope you weren't thinking that I had blown-off my day (omg!)
No need to apologize and I wasn't worried you'd forget!
It's just that when you change the date and time it will not show up on your flist at the new time - all it does is change the time and date on the post (which is rather useless). If you prepare a post earlier and keep it private, the best thing to do is copy the entire post into a new post when it's time to make the post public. That way everyone will see it.
And you'll be pleased to know that they're new to me.
I really love the contrast between the two artworks: the first, depicting one of the darkest moments in the quest (although full of love and care), the second a carefree, typical hobbit moment.
I'm so glad to have found some art that I love, and lucky, too, that it's something new to share with others. And yes, I agree with you completely about the second picture. These ladies are so very talented!
Me too, Linda. Like the artist, I love it when Sam has freckles. I can't believe the detail she achieved with a simple pencil. And we just don't see enough of Merry and Pippin, imho.
Lovely pics, Steph. I haven't seen either one before. I'll bet that's one of the wide bends in the Brandywine that they're fishing in. I love those quiet every-day hobbity scenes. Thanks for this.

You're welcome, Linwe. Fishing does seem to be a very hobbity way to spend a lovely summer afternoon.
