I do this. My best friend once observed that I tend to assume people are malicious rather than stupid--actually I can't see it the other way--whereas she always assumes they are stupid rather than malicious. Maybe deep down I think stupid people are stupid on purpose.

So what brings this one on? ;)

I was working on correcting some code that a former employee wrote. It's a convoluted nightmare. In talking with a current coworker, he pointed me to a website called "How to create unmaintainable code". They had posted this quote at the very beginning of their page and it just hit home. So I thought I would pass it along. :)

I also tend to assume people are deliberate in their actions. I think that is because I try to think through all of my actions thoroughly before doing or saying them. I have a hard time accepting that others don't.
