Yesterday, Sunday evening, my dog that I have had since I was 14 years old, passed away. She was 15 1/2 yrs.

A best friend is gone and I feel broken inside.

Awww, crap. I'm so sorry. It's a very hard thing to lose a pet. They're such bundles of pure love and emotion, it's impossible not to fall completely, irrevocably in love with them.
