“3.1, 4 1, 5 9 2 6 5 3, 5 8 9, 7 9, 3 2, 3 8….” Sunny was rocking back and forth on her heels, singing a long stream of numbers all set to
her favorite tune. She was standing right in front of the oven in Snake’s apartment, watching the timer tick down until she was supposed to take out the tray of baking cookies that could barely be seen through the window on the oven. Her first batch of cookies, ever…
As the numbers on the over were still at “2:00”, but she just couldn’t help her curiosity. Sunny quickly knelt went down on her knees to look in the window. The tiny circular cookies inside looked like they were blackening around the edges.
“Snake? I th-think they’re ready.” She called over her shoulder. She waited for him to respond but… There was no answer. With a shrug, she peered back into the window again, but now it seemed to be blackened out, black clouds blocking her view entirely.
Sunny got to her feet and scampered to the counter, grabbing a pair of oven mitts and shoving them over her hands before she rushed right back to yank the oven open. A small plume of black smoke burst out of it. She winced away and coughed weakly, waving her hands to try to clear the smoke.
“Ga ga… Ga ga… Ga ga….”
A chorus of tiny voices came from the open oven. Sunny stared at it, completely dumbstruck by what she was hearing. Hesitantly, she got back down onto her knees, and peeked into the oven… It wasn’t full of cookies anymore. Every one of her cookies had been replaced by a charred, blackened
GA-KO doll.
“Hey.” Sunny didn’t stop staring at the ‘cookies’, even as Snake came up behind her. "Are they done?"
She looked up to give him a completely confused look. Without even minding the smoke, Snake knelt down next to her to look in the oven. Before she could say anything, he reached in, and grabbed one of the squeeking ducklings. Sunny could only watch in horror when there was a huge bone-snapping crunch as Snake bit right into it's head.
"... They taste fine to me. Great job, Sunny."
