So anyone not in the US or Asia that hoped to get a PS3 this year is definately going to be disappointed (rather than just likely given the shortages

Sony do keep repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot. First the price, and now the middle finger for everyone who isn't from Japan or the US. Even then, they're only shipping 500 thousand units, which really isn't a lot.
I can't afford a PS3 for a couple of years anyway, but Sony are going to lose ground to the 360 and the Wii over the Christmas period because of this.
Sony has ruled the roost for too long now in the console market. The fanboys in particular decry the XBox because of its Microsoft parentage and go into rabid fans of monopolies and such, but you take those 'comments' to fruition and apply to Sony and they are already doing exactly that and behaving as such.
The PS3 is less a console for gamers than a console for Sony to secure a hold on their technologies, BR being the prime example. With applications for patents such that it will have DRM to the max, even to the degree that it will kill rental and second hand trading (except via fees paid directly to Sony) it is disgusting.
I have just about every console since they started back in the Atari glory days but I do think the PS3 might be the first one I miss.
Hmm I went to my local EB today and the guy said it was delayed, but I didn't expect it by that much! I'm not surprised at all really. I was more surprised that they were releasing it worldwide on the same day. I guess now my thoughts on getting a 360 might come to fruition sooner than I thought lol. I just want Dead Rising, Saints Row and Elder Scrolls *blush*
Yeah the delay is such a screw up on their part, and with massive shortages even a March 2007 release will have so few units that it will be a nightmare to get one. I honestly do not expect to see these commonly available in the shops until Q3-4 2007

Mmmm I think you have me sold! ;) I've never played XBox b4, being pretty loyal to Sony, but I can be swayed lol. One of the big electronic store chains here in Oz have a no deposit/no payments thing til 2010, so maybe I'll see if I can get the 360 thru them. Gotta make it to 1600 bucks minimum, but that should cover all the games that are out now LOL. Or maybe I could get an el cheapo widescreen of some sort too ;) If I get a job tho I'll get a good one *nods
