Work

There's been some changes at work that are making me feel as though the staff is being treated like children. We've been told that we can't eat at our desks. No snacks, no meals. Even if we're on our break, we can't eat at the desk. We have to go into the break room, or into the "lounge" (which isn't really much of a lounge). If we want to have a ( Read more... )

Happy employess are more productive employess. That's just fact. What they are doing is counterproductive.

Now I understand some things like no meals at the desk if someone is screwing around too badly. I had to make that rule because last year I had an employee who would do things like eat ribs at the desk. When a customer came in she would do stuff like lick her fingers clean before helping them. EW! But that's an extreme case. She left and so now I allow them to eat meals at the desk if it isn't super messy. (Sandwiches, hotdogs, heck a slice of pizza is fine.) Snacks should totally be allowed!!! You aren't 3 years old.

Sorry your work is being a bunch of Nazis.

Yeah, it was a couple of people who ruined it for everyone, and we have a tattler there, too, which doesn't help.

We're talking about doing seat assignment. If we do that, we will be able to eat at our desks again. Then only 2 or 3 people are responsible for how the desk looks, and how clean it is, instead of every person in the call centre possibly sitting at each desk.

Time will tell how quickly this policy goes down the drain, I guess. :/
