That's creepy that you know that... so they tell you so that you'll harass us until we do... Do you not get credit unless we finish?

Haha. I won't harass you. :3 If you don't want to do it, it's ok. I don't get credit for the referral until you get credit for completing an offer. Most of the offers only take a day or two to get credit, and then you can cancel. That was the case with the eFax offer for me, anyway.
