Steve talked about this a few days ago, but my opinions are slightly different, so what the hell ( Read more... )

I liked that episode, too. I thought it was fun, though honestly, I was more interested in it from the "oooh, that's a neat idea" aspect than anything else.

I too like Willow :)

That's a good idea - I skipped a couple that were pretty dumb so far, and I bet the wiki would tell me more clearly than just the ep description . . . Thanks!

See, the things you miss when you don't watch the season set in high school ;)

I have noticed, however, that they drink when they are all clearly underage. That bugged me a little, but enough to ruin the Spike :)

Maybe I'll try out the last episode of season 1 then. And if you say the Spike stuff in the early seasons is good, I should check that out, too.

Thanks!

If you like Spike in Seasons 4+, I think you'll like him in Season 2, where's actually bad. Also, insane vampire girlfriend Drusilla.

Oh, one of the Trio turned to Spike and asked if he was British. Then he said, "I've seen all of Dr Who."

BUT THEN THEY SCREWED IT UP. *nerdspasm*

How did they screw it up?

They implied that all of Dr Who was on dvd.

*hangs head in shame* I was hoping to avoid the fact that this bothered me.

<== is full of lame-i-tude.

I discovered Buffy from a different angle -- I assumed it was just some crap show about a valley girl, and only started watching when it was in the much later seasons, but was intrigued and got caught up by watching syndicated reruns of the earlier seasons. This was all a long time ago and it's not really a show I obsess about, but I do remember making an effort to see every episode and being impressed at the creativity, storytelling, and characterizations. The analogies between high school and the demon world especially intrigued me... But it's all very vague in my mind now and I have no concrete comments to make. So basically I'm being pointless.

Oh wait, I guess my point was that I might have had a very different take on it approaching the show from a "Joss is God" perspective (not that you're a disciple, but I know a lot of Buffy fans probably are). So it's kind of like going to a movie that's been hyped to death and being overly critical of it -- maybe that's also part of what you're doing.

Good point there on the last - I have a good number of friends who thought this show was just the bees knees. I just liked Firefly and Dr Horrible better, possibly because he'd just been in the business longer when he made them.

I do vaguely remember watching one of the early episodes because I'd seen the movie years before, and I wasn't really impressed then either. I think I just don't care about high school aged people at this point in my life. The teen drama tends to grate, which I guess is why I'm glad we're starting at s4 instead of s1. Maybe if I really like where it goes, we'll go back and watch the beginning. That's how I watched Highlander, anyway.
