Now I know why I can never keep this up!

It's not the posting every day... it's the loads of cool stuff your friends write in response and the comments you want to write to their posts and comments and the increased feeling of community and obligation and friendship and the extra time it takes!

So, how do you do it, you who post regularly? Do you have any helpful hints for me?

I have the same problem! It's a little overwhelming sometimes, even though I love getting all the comments. My tactic so far has been to ignore comments until I have time and the mental energy to reply to them all. ...which, uh, ends up making me feel slightly guilty, especially because I want everyone to know that I really like their comments, but oh well.

WOW, I understand that! But it does seem like a good way to handle things... even with the bit of guilt involved.

Honestly, I just write about my life. I used to write every single day, but now it's not as habitual. It's usually whatever I'm in the mood for.

Some posts I think will get lots of comments get none, and some I just write on a whim get tons. I can't really predict it.

I don't think this is very helpful, but I know I love hearing about your life!

I try and write about what's got my attention or my heart at the moment. And Thorne mentioned earlier that she sat down and made a list of all the things to talk about and has been crossing them off.

Either way - here's your happy thought for today: Happy Halfway Point, love. You're doing great.

Already?!? Cool! (Of course then I go and blow off yesterday....)

I like the list idea. And you are so much more articulate with what's got your heart, I think. *chu*

It used to be that I'd open a file and call it "August Blog Posts" or some such. I'd cut and paste cool stuff in there throughout the week--mostly writing links so that I'd have a nice record for myself. I'd try to add a couple personal items in case people wanted to make a quick comment; something that would allow my friends to just leave a brief response. When it felt long enough, I'd post it and start another one. It's a good system because there's no set schedule so no guilty feelings.

When it comes to reading other people's posts, I'm a loser and I accept that. There's no way I can keep up reading everyone's posts. I don't even pretend to try anymore. I joy in finding completely random people (they don't even have to be on my friends list) and responding to their posts. It makes me feel like I'm not in a rut, yet still connected.

Good seeing you today.
