LET THERE BE PANTS!

Jan 20, 2010 22:12

Since I came *this* close to actually being able to celebrate National No-Pants Day (and I WILL find a way to celebrate next year, that being the 10th anniversary of Improv Everywhere's first No Pants day), I have decided I shall do the opposite.

This is a musical celebration of... pants.

I will go from the arguably least musical (but incredibly clever and oh-so-needed) to the most. What started this was the last American Idol contestant featured in the Atlanta tryouts 6 days ago. Damn, if someone could actually do a good remix of this I would pay iTunes for it!

My little sister inflicted shared this next video with me. She's a big fan of the cartoon, and I admit that watching this video makes me wish I had more than basic cable once again.

If you've stayed with me this far, I can reward you! Jonathan Coulton performs my favorite pants-related song. I have several versions here for your viewing and listening pleasure. I was at the last two and I'm audibly cheering (hoo boy am I) in the first of those. And once you've listened to all three (each one has its unique moments), you won't be able to get the song out of your head -- just like me! [sfx: evil laughter]

And finally, just so you know what he was talking about in that last clip:

Several years ago at Confluence (our local science-fiction convention) a young man brought some wonderful cartoons to the art show. The overwhelming favorite of the bunch was a picture of a person standing heroically (feet apart, hands on hips, complete with towering perspective), wearing a pair of bright yellow flowered suspendered trousers. The title was "Worship My Pants". It was simply awesome, and sold for a worthy price. We never saw the cartoonist again. (Hmm.)

That's my non-mundane (if non-musical) pants sighting. Does anyone else have any pants songs, pictures, links or stories to share?

pants, videos, joco
