I haven't posted anything about what's been going on at home, mostly because there just isn't much to say. But I need to give a little context to be able to share the sweetest thing anyone has done for me in quite some time ( Read more... )

that is more than awesome. I'm praying for your grandmother to be comfortable and all that...

Sometime, do you mind sharing the 23-year-old grandmother story? It sounds awesome.

Thank you, Em -- prayers are definitely appreciated.

The story is really just that my grandmother has always been 23. I distinctly remember going to lunch for her birthday when I was quite young, and proudly wishing her a happy 24th birthday . . . she then told me that she was still 23, and I got upset and threw a fit. :)

She tells everyone that she's 23 - often giving wait staff a hard time when they try to give her senior citizens' discounts.

When she turned 70, my aunt took her on a cruise. When she turned 73, we threw her a huge surprise party to celebrate the golden anniversary of her 23rd birthday.

When I turned 23 a few years ago, we had a joint birthday party.

And on and on . . . my family is definitely a bit crazy, but we all tell everyone we know that my grandmother is 23. And up until about a year ago, I really think that that's what kept her young.
