phobias nejem August 15 2011, 20:34:49 UTC
After reading an interesting thread in the chatter post about some phobias people have, I've gotten curious: what do you think the characters' phobias could be?

I would love if there were mini fills (or mini mini fills, or even mini mini mini fills, or... you get the idea XD) depicting a scene focused on the character and their phobia/fear, the more the merrier! :)

I'm glad you thought so, I was aiming for that! Thank you! :)

I liked how this gave off the impression that it wasn't necessarily the fact that a deranged psychopath was able to invade his home and personal space with ease, but that he touched everything and moved them out of place... that it became a mixture of both these elements to combine into such a creepy event.

In my mind Mycroft's fear (phobia, if you will) was so strong that the first thing he worried about was putting his things back in their place: his phobia was bliding him so much that he didn't realise until much later that Moriarty could have done much worse while in his house, like placing a bomb, because for Mycroft there is nothing worse than his things being touched and moved. A bit weird and irrational, but that's what phobias are about! XD

Gah, I'll stop talking now! Thank you for your comment, it was lovely! Happy you liked this short fill! :)

This is really really scary. O.o You really well captured the inside of Mycroft's head, I almost could feel the terror Mycroft feels towards the end.. I think in that sense this Moriarty is the scariest one that I've ever seen in fic.

The boys circle him like sharks when he arrives, slowly edging him closer to the pool. There are other people there, swimming and ignorantly enjoying the dangerous water, but they all assume these boys are his friends. Jim knows better than to ask for help; he knows no one ever takes his side ( ... )

OP

Aaah sorry, I didn't have a chance to read this yesterday!

Oh god, where to start, there is so much to love about this! *_*

Firsy of all, your writing style is wonderful: I liked how you began and ended the fic with the same sentence, it left me with a sense of closure and order and rightfulness... Even if it shouldn't because Jim kills people (or has people killed for him) but that's still what I felt! You made me understand him, his fear and his action, you really brought me into his mind and that is a wonderful thing to do with one's writing skills!

Secondly, I loved how you chose the fear of water for Jim: thinking about that last scene in TGG, with the lights of the pool trembling in that unique way illuminated water does, Moriarty walking next to it... I think it's now going to be part of my headcanon that he stepped in that pool and remembered for a second about little Carl Powers and what he did to him.

Thirdly, the feelings you put into this really got me: I could almost feel myself drowning while reading about little ( ... )

Ooooh, this is very good. So believable, that Jim would use his own fear to frighten others.

Ahh, this is brilliant. And you made me sympathize with Jim! I think my favorite part is this: Jim feels a kind of kinship with Carl that he’s never felt with anyone else. I love that he feels that, it makes him so much more human, and I love that he had to murder Carl to feel it.
