I just love this kind of prompts and the fill that follow are always always magnificent and guess what, yours is magnificent as well! Loved the bits and pieces about Sherlock's previous Johns, it was very interesting. And the final encounter, the one we all know about, was even more interesting seen in this light :)

In secondary school in the UK, Sherlock's first year (Year 7) would be the year he would be ages 10-11. At age 14 he would be in Year 9 or 10, depending on the month of his birth. For next time :) *continues reading*

Title: Handful of Dust
Prompt: Everyone is born with the name of their soulmate on their hand. Additionally: ...but that doesn’t make love any easier. Fate brings John and Sherlock together even if they weren’t originally destined to be. Differences from prompt: "Everyone" is now "nearly everyone."
Pairing: John/Sherlock; also John/Mary Morstan, Sherlock/Sebastian Wilkes.
Genre: Slash, het, supernatural, angst.
Trigger warnings for whole fic (spoilers, highlight to read): Death (not a BBC canon character). Brief description of a stillborn child. Graphic description of self-mutilation/engraving (carving a name into skin). Emotionally deceptive/abusive relationship. Some cultural homophobia. Notes: Beta'ing welcome, since I'd like to eventually archive this on my journal and AO3. Also, my headcanon Mary for this is Law!Watson’s Mary, because Kelly Reilly is awesome; of course, go with whatever works for you

"It's the person I'm to spend the rest of my life with." Sherlock's voice rose with indignation. He was different and it was frustrating. Surely Mycroft could see that. "It matters. Unless I'm to be alone
