Molly looked across the table at the beautiful, brilliant, wonderful man and knew that he would always break her heart.

“Sherlock,” she said and he gave her that look. That “I see everything” look and wished she didn’t have to say the words. Wished that he would just give her a nod, smile sadly and then leave.

But he won’t because he won’t understand why she’s doing this.

“I can’t do this anymore,” she said. Her voice sounded foreign to her.

“You said you loved me,” he answered. It was a question, not an accusation.

“Love is not enough.” It was a lesson she never wanted to learn.
