There's a problem I have with body-swapping fics, and it's that most people don't account for a person's brain structure and physiology being an important, if not the most important, proponent of personality ( ... )

Seconded.

Also, just pointing out, to go from being asexual to being sexual would be pretty scary. And possibly the other way around would be unsettling too.

Too lazy to de-anon

That's actually part of the reason I prompted it. I'm asexual, and I was wondering what it would be like to get turned on by looking at people, and then, unconnectedly, I starting thinking about how body-swap fics don't make that much sense, and then ba-boom, connection.

I'm asexual too, and I've wondered about that too. The thought scares me, actually. And I've talked to a friend of mine who's bisexual, who says that the thought of becoming asexual scares her- she said that at first it would be a relief to not be distracted so easily, and then she would feel like she was losing her identity.

It's not in the Sherlock fandom (and much to my embarassment its RPS- I don't read that, of course not :/), but it's about a body swap between a straight man and a gay man, and they both struggle with suddenly being attracted to different people than they were before.
