John watches from the sidelines during The Great Game and A Scandal in Belgravia as Moriarty and Adler do their best to tempt Sherlock away with their mind games and allure. What they don't know is that John got there long before either of them, and if Sherlock's eye ever strays his first reaction will be to crawl at John's feet and beg for forgiveness.
John will forgive Sherlock, of course. He always does.
He just likes making Sherlock work for it first.
Bonus points for emphasis on John's punishment. Especially if it ends with Sherlock sprawled out in a sweaty, come-stained, moaning, fucked-out mess.
