AGU: Artificial Gestation Unit, Star Trek/Aliens AU? anonymous April 3 2012, 21:21:16 UTC
Admiral Holmes was the most formidable woman assigned to Orbiter-200B; in fact, she was so busy with her duties that she and her husband opted to use an AGU rather than to have her waddle about pregnant and cause a loss of efficiency ( ... )

Well if it's any consolation, those people sound much more interesting than what might be considered "average" people! Not that average people aren't awesome in their own way, but personally I'd go with the artsy types and the atypicals every time.

It sounds like you are still getting through the awkwardness of youth, I promise it is going to get better! Well, I'm not ancient, but I know I started off awkward and unsociable and cynical and shy and some time since the start of uni I shed all those except the cynicism, and now I can do what I want whenever I want and hang with the people I like and don't force myself to go to parties unless I actually want to be there, and it's wonderful. It just takes time and a lot of learning about loving yourself. In a lot of ways, the early twenties can be the hardest years of life, but it only gets better. Oh listen to me I sound like an old fart.

Anyway, I really should get to work on the meat of the fill, now that I've got the bones all laid out ;)

:)
That's reassuring; I only hope the world doesn't go to the dogs before I actually feel like an adult.

Ack, sorry for distracting you, I do that, I'm so sorry!

I'll lurk around, patiently...

Dear anon,
Hello! I know it has been a long, long time since you posted this prompt, and that it has been filled by a truly wonderful writer. I’ve read that story, and it beyond amazed me. I was linked over here, and I fell in love all over again. When I was inspired by this prompt, I knew I couldn’t compare to that story, but I still feel that I very much want to try for this year’s nanowrimo. If you’d allow me, I want to take on the challenge you issued in an original way. I’d have to change it some, because I know nothing of Star Trek or Aliens and don’t have the resources to correct this lack of knowledge at the moment, but I think this story would work set in an general scifi universe, if you’d be alright with that. I’d love to do this project if you would let me. I’ve asked Tawabids, and I won’t do a thing if either of you say no - it is your creative vision. I’d love to be given a chance, though. Thanks.

OP:

HOLY SMOKES I JUST

I was randomly going through bookmarks of things that I'd prompted way back when, and I happened to see this post here!

By a stroke of fortune, it's not even been a month since you dropped a note here, so if you see this, then BY ALL MEANS GO RIGHT AHEAD AND BE INSPIRED

I'm so abashed that you found this prompt compelling enough to pursue it for nanowrimo, and I totally support you 5000%. I have to give some credit to Tawabids, though; she was one of my absolute favorite authors from the XMFC kinkmeme and when she hopped over here and WORKED MAGIC ON MY PROMPT I think I cried, because oh my god it's so beautiful.

But anyway: Best of luck with your writing endeavors! Drop a link to an archive here whenever you finish, because I'd absolutely adore to see your take on this prompt.
