Johns reaction to sherlocks torture anonymous May 27 2014, 20:18:20 UTC
You know that scene at the beginning of TEH when we see sherlock being tortured? He has obviously been there for some time. Somehow John gets to see the footage (possibly due to either Mycroft's or Moriarty's meddling/he notices some scars on sherlock's back and investigates). Angst ensues.

I would prefer johnlock but it's not required.

+1 if sherlock made a conscious effort to hide what happened to him

+10 if it's not the first time he has been tortured (john somehow finds also out about it). maybe have the mind palace created originally for the purpose of coping with the aftermath

+100 if somehow along the way they compare scars

No, John, it's NOT for the best! D':
To be honest, no amount of angst and torture and non-con hurts me more than John and Sherlock apart. :'(
'You seem to be of a forgiving nature, at least when it comes to lies' I liked this. So meaningful...

OP Oh wow! Beautifully written, and just the kind of angst. I can't wait to see where you'll go with this.

John can’t understand it, he honestly can’t. He’s still angry with Sherlock, he can feel it, but what for? He’s long forgiven Sherlock for faking his death, that’s for sure, and a lot of things have happened since then. Why this feeling of constant irritation that accompanies him in his happy married life ( ... )

Sherlock lies on an enormously large bed in an enormously large room, curled up under a duvet. In this flat, he looks out of place. To much empty space around him. It somehow makes Sherlock look… diminished ( ... )

So it’s drugs after all. The siren call of old habits, as Mycroft would put it ( ... )

Amazing work. I love hoe the room makes Sherlock seem diminished, how Sherlock reacts to John's presence, and Sherlock'c reaction to John's question is perfection. I'm drawn in completely and I am thoroughly distressed about what Sebastian did to make him black out and if the drugs are emotional coping mechanisms or for actual pain relief. Wow.

Sherlock is really not okay. John has to get him out of there. Is this relationship even consensual on Sherlock's part?
Please update soon! I really need to know what's going on.

OP you have no idea how happy i am that you decided to fill this prompt! I like how we can't be certain what is really going on with Sherlock. It adds this great element of suspense that makes it that much more exciting

The next day, John is edgy, pacing back and forth across the kitchen, and maybe just a little bit too rude with Mary, over nothing. He says he’s sorry half a minute later and puts a mug of coffee onto the table beside her. Like it’s enough to grant him forgiveness.

Mary, still in her pajamas and dressing gown, sighs and puts a hand upon his. “If you’re going to make me coffee every time you lash at me because of him, I think I should start worrying about my blood pressure ( ... )

You have missed this, an echo whispers in John’s head. Admit it. The thrill of the chase, the blood pumping through your veins, just the two of us against the rest of the world...

“We’re fine,” John says stubbornly. “And I’d rather you don’t check Mary’s Facebook page if that’s just to spy on her. But anyway, I’m not here to talk about her. Or me. Or us both. I just want to… well… to make sure you’re, um, not in trouble or something. You don’t look… happy.”

Sherlock’s lips curve in a humourless smile. “Since when my happiness is of so much concern to you?”

John shrugs. “Since quite a while I guess. Sherlock, I’m still your friend, so if you have something to say...”

Sherlock cuts him short: “Are you? If friendship means not seeing each other in weeks and then occasionally asking ‘Are you all right?’, then it’s highly overestimated. If we’re friends now, it seems like we’ve been something else before ( ... )
