Uh... it's not the story of her as a fifteen year old (and I don't know how I'm still writing this, it was supposed to be a one shot and now look at it) it is, however, the story of how they got her... sort of. And now she has a name (though it's not used an awful lot).“John Watson, Doctor,” he smiles and holds out his hand ( ... )

“So that’s it, is it?” Sherlock said, unwinding his scarf from round his neck.

“Yes,” John replied, rocking the girl up and down gently, “this is her.”

“She,” Sherlock says.

“Pardon?”

“This is she. The verb to be doesn’t have an object.” He eyes the child like most people would a bomb (but not like Sherlock would a bomb, because John’s seen that and it’s nothing like this ( ... )

Mrs Hudson fusses. For all she’s their landlady, they receive more baby blankets, nappies and sma formula in the first few weeks than they can fit into the flat. She brings toys too, and children’s books - the ones that Sherlock throws away, so they live in 221A and they sneak them out when Sherlock’s busy ruining someone’s day (whether it’s a criminal or an unassuming passer-by ( ... )

“Oh...” Molly says as a child is sat down in front of her on her desk. “You shouldn’t have.”

There is a huff of a chuckle from John Watson and she looks up with a sigh to see Sherlock staring down at her.

“Mr Mistry, please.”

“Uh...” She looks at the baby and then up at Sherlock. “There’s a baby on my desk.”

“Well done, very observant,” Sherlock replies, smiling tightly. “Mr Mistry.”

“I really don’t think the mortuary is the place for a baby,” she says. She holds out a finger and two hands grab hold of it.

“Which is why she’s on your desk,” Sherlock continues. “ Mr Mistry, however, isn’t.”

“I’ll stay with her,” John says. “Sorry, Mrs Hudson’s in the Cotswalds for the week and it was short notice.”

“Right,” Molly says, standing up. “Mr Mistry. I don’t suppose you have the correct forms.”

“Forms are dull,” Sherlock tells her and walks out of her office without waiting for her, already heading down to the mortuary.

Molly reclaims her finger and follows him with a sigh. The riding crop was one thing, but babies?

Lizzy is just starting to walk when the first drug bust since her arrival at 221b occurs. She manages to squirm away from John half a dozen times in the course of the next hour or so, finding her way between legs and under tables.

Lestrade carries her back three times with an amused smile, but the fourth time they are different hands putting her into her cot.

“Anderson, I hope you haven’t spoken to her. Exposure to idiocy of that magnitude could scar her for life,” Sherlock says. He’s playing his violin (which has already been examined for drugs) in the corner, seemingly at ease with the whole affair.

“Exposure to me will scar her?” Anderson asks, but he doesn’t press the issue ( ... )

He pulls it closer, holding it like he has seen in the diagrams and he begins to pace again, glancing down occasionally to check that he hasn’t broken it. Sherlock’s not sure what John would do if he woke up to find that Sherlock broke the baby, but it would probably be something permanent, and it might involve his Browning. OMG HOW IS THIS THE GREATEST THING ON EARTH.

“How about we read something?” He looks at the cover. “Common Poisons and their Effects?” :D :D

“Really? That’s what they looked like?”

“You... you don’t know about the dinosaurs.” HAHAHAHA ANDERSON LEAVING A DINOSAUR AND SHERLOCK NOT KNOWING WHAT DINOSAURS LOOKED LIKE, crying with laughter omg.

Lizzy is the perfect name for her! It really suits her. :D I just love this so hard. ♥ I do hope there'll be more!

ANDERSON LEFT A DINOSAUR. I C WHUT U DID THAR! Best. Fanon. Ever. XD

Seriously though, this was one of the sweetest things I've ever read. And everyone was in character too. And I love how Lestrade made himself an honorary uncle and how everybody kept an eye out for her during the drugs bust and how Mycroft has taken her under his looming shadow wing. I &hearts Mycroft.

Great, great stuff. :)

As a rule, I loathe kid fic in fandoms where kids have no place. I stand corrected. This was perfect - and Anderson's dinosaur was the cherry on top of the fic sundae.

I had heaps and tons of things to flail at in this fic, but then they were all forgotten because Anderson I assume gave her a dinosaur. That is just. So epic. SO EPIC.

Also, I love that everyone is protective of Elizabeth -- Greg's warning to Sherlock was pure BAMF (as was his telling baby!Elizabeth that she can come to him whenever she needs to. *squeaks*).
