EVERYONE IS EITHER DOMINANT OR SUBMISSIVE. OKAY, OKAY THERE ARE SOME SWITCHES BUT THEY ARE RARE

In D/s world adult unclaimed subs need a guardian(usually a dominant family member) to no longer be considered legal minors. Hey, in some parts of the world subs aren't even allowed to vote. British subs have it good.
Sherlock is an unclaimed sub with Mycroft acting as his guardian. He is perfectly satisfied with not having some dimwitted Dom trying to control him. The few times he attempted relationships, it didn't turn out.. well.
Sherlock ain't no silly airhead sub longing for someone to love, cherish and accept him. Nope. Not at all.
Then he starts sharing a flat with Dr. John Watson, Dom. For the first time Sherlock struggles with the instinct to submit.
GIVE ME ANGST ANGST ANGST. SHERLOCK DOESN'T WANT NO MASTER! JOHN HAS BETTER SUBS THROWING THEMSELVES AT HIM! PAST MASTERS WERE ABUSIVE ASSHOLES! HE THINKS IT IS TOTALLY UNREQUITED! AAAAAAANNNNGGGSSSSST!
House MD rec in this AU

Given that House MD has ties to the Sherlock Holmes fandom, here's a rec for some fic based in a D/s AU where attraction and orientation is drawn on line of dominance and submission as opposed to gender.

You know, this reminded me of how much I really liked the Directed!Verse; I think I'm gonna base my fic more on that, and less on helenish's verse (which had been my original plan, since that's more hinted in the OP, but I'm not too good at feminist allegory, so I figure this will be an easier romp).

Yay, I'm glad to have helped. :)
I wonder how some of the dynamics from the show, like the bromance between Sherlock and John, would translate to a D/s world. Since people mistake them for gay in the show, does that mean John would be a sub as well if Sherlock were one? I know that's not necessarily where you're going in your fill (WHICH IS AWESOME BY THE WAY); I'm just throwing thoughts out there into the ether.

In my head!canon, John's a dom, and Sherlock's a sub, except that Sherlock acts like a dom, and gets mistaken for one all the time.
>_> The rest would be spoilers for the ~other~ part of my fill that I'm currently working on and not done with. Which is now shorter than the backstory pieces I've posted. wut. :[ CLEARLY I NEED TO WRITE MORE.
