John/Lestrade, established relationship. Lestrade gets the shit kicked out of him by a gang, and winds up in hospital. John is, understandably, not best pleased by this. H/C to the absolute max, but with a happy ending. Not like that, you big pervs.
Extra credit for: - Scared!John, getting quite vocal in his displeasure at not being allowed to see Greg right away at the hospital. Superbonuspoints if he is restrained by Sherlock. - Sleeping!boys. - Greg, very hazy thanks to pain meds, waking up to John and Sherlock bickering over his bed.
If someone writes this, I will buy you a goddamn pony.
it seriously is! i don't know if it's how rg plays him, or just that i have been appreciating lestrade more in general lately, but there is just something very satisfying about the idea of him and john having an entirely bloke-y relationship where they go out for pints and/or curry and have actual normal conversations the way sherlock is just not able to (but they are still bffs, because i will love the holmes/watson dynamic until the day i die).
I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS WAY TOO MUCH! and this prompt is kind of everything i like, especially john flipping out on the hospital staff about seeing lestrade RIGHT NOW and sherlock holding him back.
Lestrade is usually played for laughs, and I love that RG hasn't done that. He's a bit crumply and exasperated, but he's a bloody good copper and he doesn't take Sherlock's shit AT ALL.
Gatiss and Moffat said that Sherlock and John was a love story, not a sex story, and I love that. I love that they absolutely adore each other, but there doesn't have to be any sexual connotation that that if you don't want to see it. John/Lestrade is just... it's lovely. They're just normal blokes, and they fit together. There's no angst about them. And it's lovely that in the middle of all the brilliant, dizzying chaos that is Sherlock and John's lives, there can be this little oasis of calm in John/Lestrade <3

but john/lestrade is something else entirely. i'm not sure what i think of them, since i've just recently come around to this pairing, but i just think their personalities are very...not quite complementary, but close to that. i think they understand each other very well.
(also, it is my headcanon that lestrade fixes john beans on toast when he stays over. and they read the paper together. and it is adorable <3)

John and Lestrade just... fit. They're like a cup of tea in front of a Sunday evening BBC drama, that same sort of comfort and everything being peaceful.

Oh, and I'll help brush/exercise/train the pony. I'll even shovel out its stall.

I have a spare pair of poo-shovelling boots, if you like?
