I'd blame this prompt on hormones, but the idea has been in my head for a while. Sherlock and John arrive at Scotland Yard to bug Lestrade for a new case, only to find a bunch of kittens crawling over Lestrade's desk. I had imagined Lestrade & Co. finding the abandoned kittens at a crime scene and bringing them back to Scotland Yard while they waited for the RSPCA to claim them.
Aw, thank you! Well, I could just see the bored Sherlock in front of me, haha.
it was interesting to try to write Lestrade, at least a little bit. He's an interesting character, but I haven't really created any head!canon for him, so this spurred a lot of thoughts around him. I guess I'll just have to write more ;)
Also, I realised that I'd described one of the cats as orange. Would you use ginger instead? We don't have ginger in Swedish, we use "red haired" (rödhårig) for a person and orange for animals. It just struck me after I'd posted this that "ginger" might've been the rigth word here. I dunno?
I would say "orange" or "marmalade," but I'm Canadian. I know the Brits use "ginger," but I wouldn't worry about that in terms of description. It would be more of a problem if one of the characters was referring to an "orange kitten," and I don't remember that happening here.
;) This was great fun to write, so I'm glad people liked it! I just couldn't have all three of them adore the kittens, and John does seem liek one who likes them and really, Sherlock doesn't :/

For some reason, I love it that Sherlock is obviously NOT a fan of kittens. He's just perverse.
