Ok I completely misunderstood the prompt because I saw "robot" instead of "doll" and wrote the following:

"This has the potential to be pretty cute or pretty angsty (or both). I can see John getting a secondhand robot to help him around the house or something, unaware that it's a sexbot. And then it's too late, because Sherlock's a bot with personality and John would feel terrible shutting him down or giving him away again."

Now that I comprehend what you're saying it reminds me of a fic from way back where John is a doll that Sherlock carries around to crime scenes and talks to as though he's a real person. He wasn't a sex doll but I'll see if I can dig it up as it's probably related to your interests.

You're referring to Galatea by one_windiga, which is here: http://one-windiga.livejournal.com/3791.html

OP would actually be more than happy with that scenario, actually. ;)

This prompt was inspired by that fic, or maybe is it a little creepy to think of Sherlock's mind trapped inside a plastic body? Able to see everything and figure out everything about John, especially what he looks like at his most vulnerable, but unable to move on his own or speak? Yes, come to think of it, that's creepy. That's VERY creepy.

OP suggests anons do whatever they would like with this prompt, happy sad dark angsty creepy.

This turned out less creepy than I expected ( ... )

John's flat was bare, almost Spartan. The only obvious personal touches were the cane scuffs on the floors and the forgotten carton of milk on the table. John had obviously moved in very recently, and he was obviously a very sad man ( ... )

John couldn't hear him, of course, but he gave Sherlock a sheepish grin anyway. "Well. I didn't want a kid's toy. I thought maybe, if I got a sex doll, I would at least feel like a grown-up." He gazed into Sherlock's eyes. "And you, well...you look like you're listening. No, scratch that, you look like you can see right through me and analyse every atom that makes me up ( ... )

This is really surprisingly lovely, and it's hopeful, in a way. I was so pleased to see that you incorporated canon!Sherlock's characteristics into this other body -- he's still curious and still clever -- and I can't help believing that this Sherlock will still end up helping John heal.

Thank you for writing this!

:) You're welcome. And yes, fingers crossed for John's recovery. I like to imagine Sherlock helps John heal in every AU, somehow.

Wow. Sherlock as a sex doll ought to be crack, but this ... isn't. It's lovely. Join others in hoping for a sequel :DDD

Actually crying, bb. That was unexpectedly sad and beautiful and haunting at the same time. Funny, too tho: "Sherlock approved of the skull idea thoroughly" Hee.
