Sherlock is a master of disguise (just like every version of him ever) and he's not just going to spend his 'death' ignoring the people he cares about.
So - 5 times Sherlock used a disguise to watch over the people he left behind and one time he revealed himself.
Amazing levels of love to anyone who can include Sigerson the Norwegian Explorer.

John has conversations with Sherlock's headstone. Lots of conversations. He comes daily to talk to him, berate him, yell at him, tell him stories about his day, etc.

"Yeah, it's me again. Didn't think you'd see me again so soon, did you? Of course you did, you could probably tell, something about the way I tie my shoes or... something. You could always tell. I just thought- Well, it's been hard, you know? It's still... I can't- I don't really know how this will work. Look at me, I'm a mess. I wake up and there's the first deep breath of the day and it feels like a sigh. And then I can't get up right away, it's strange. Like something sucked all the... I don't know - sucked all the colours out of the world, all the energy from me and I can only lie there and look at the minutes ticking by until an hour is gone and I haven't moved at all. God, it's worse than that first winter back here. You didn't know me then, but that was- It was horrible, but then you came along and it got better. I- No, I can't. Sorry, I should tell you this stuff, I really have to tell you, but words fail me. I just can't, but you know. You always do. Did. Hell, what am I doing?"

I'm working on something similar, but right now, Lestrade already knows parts of what happened with Mycroft and Moriarty...But there will be a few more fics and one of them is going to have the complete aftermath where Lestrade and Mycroft work through what they can work through... Not sure if it's what you're looking for, but I'll link them.

Oh, thank you!
I'll admit that my gut reaction during the ep was anger at Mycroft, but I've got past that now and it's nice to see something that explores his side :) And Mystrade's always good, of course.

So, the first ACD story anon ever read was The Reigate Puzzle, and anon has had a major soft spot for it ever since. Even though it isn't generally regarded as one of the top ACD stories, it is anon's favourite.

So - Mystrade where Lestrade puts it all together just like John did... I don't care how it ends after that.

The Approaching Storm Mycroft-centric on his thoughts about what happened.
Lull Before the Storm Mystrade after John's confrontation.
There will be a few more fics to follow. At least it's something to tide you over!
