No real directions, but this isn't a place for debate. It's a place for RANTIN' AND RAVIN'.

There is a rule: There is to be no calling out anyone by name in Rants, Chatter, or on the Meme itself. This only produces an atmosphere of animosity and it is no longer tolerated. If you see any names being ranted about, please link ( Read more... )

I already miss the sexy BC gifs on the old rant post. But this here rant post has so much room for rants. Look at it all!

I'm trying to think of something clever to say about attracting the rant police, but I fail at comedy.

That horrible, pretentious person saying that all Mystrade is crap.
Well excuse us, you are clearly a fucking fantastic writer. And she longs to be recced to something good. How charitable.

STFU then. Its fanfics, we can write Mycroft however we want.

That horrible, pretentious person saying that all Mystrade is crap.

That isn't what she said. She said that most of the Mystrade fic on AO3 was crap. She also amended it to add a rec for something she thought as good.

It's a personal opinion on a personal journal and for the most part I'd say she was right. Mycroft is, in many fics portrayed as a petulant child rather than an adult.

Personally, I think many writers fail to write the characters as adult men.

Had a bizarre dream last night where Sherlock accidentally shrunk John in an experiment and was trying to stop Mrs. Hudson from hoovering. At one point, John was sitting cross-legged in Sherlock's belly button and glaring at him.

Bit weird.

Actually, can someone explain Mystrade to me? I've read tons of cute fics about them, and the authors definitely make it work, but I'm really curious as to what are the origins of this pairing!

...is it like Anderson and dinosaurs?

I like to think they bond over their fondness for and exasperation over Sherlock.

I'm really tempted to just snap at you because I'm so tired of all the people who come here asking "but why M/L!" or "but what is the Omegaverse!" but you don't sound as annoying as those other anons.

In canon Mycroft and Lestrade were attached to the hip in the Adventure of the Bruce-Partington Plans, that's where it all started. In BBC canon Lestrade confirmed he knows Mycroft in Hounds ("I don't just do what your brother says, you know") and there isn't much else besides the fact that they're two characters from the same stories who are slashable.

They make sense because one is the bureaucracy of public order and the other is the "brute force" of public order, two sides of the same medal.

Plus Mark Gatiss and Rupert Graves are awesome and hot XD

Oh, I didn't know that was a frequent question... I literally just joined the fandom (finished watching s2 last Tuesday, have yet to read the books) and I was simply curious :)

Thanks for the answer, anon!
