No real directions, but this isn't a place for debate. It's a place for RANTIN' AND RAVIN'.

There is a rule: There is to be no calling out anyone by name in Rants, Chatter, or on the Meme itself. This only produces an atmosphere of animosity and it is no longer tolerated. If you see any names being ranted about, please link ( Read more... )

off topic by nature, rants

I have spent 6 years of my life doing nothing. Mostly due to depression. I didn't have any goal, or dream. I would just sleep all day wishing I wouldn't wake up ever again. My family tried to help me, but I refused to move on. For 6 years. Now I want to start all over, but I just can't stop thinking, regretting about the past 6 years of nothing. I want to move on this time, I really do, but.

I'm a big fan of rituals involving fire when trying to move on from something. Write all the shitty things down and burn those mothers.

I've been there and I know how you feel. I'm still working on this myself but here goes:

You cannot change the past. What's done is done. You can change your present though. You have to make the choice to do what you need to do each and every moment. If you screw up, it doesn't matter. Just move forward, and make this decision count.

You have all the time in the world. Six years is very little in the context of a whole lifetime, so don't let it turn into ten years, twenty years, the rest of your life.

What keeps me going is the hope that I can make a positive difference in someone's life. There are times when I feel like I don't have goals or dreams, but I just want to do some good in the world, wherever I'm placed. You have people who love you, and there are many people who would love to love you if they only knew you. Keep going for them until you find a reason to go on for yourself.

I have been in the darkest places, and I'm still here. You are too. There will be better times ahead for you, just as there have been for me.

Oh, I remember this… I lost 5 years of my life the same way, dead to the world, doing absolutely nothing. Or I thought I was doing nothing but it turns out I was also learning, thinking about things most people never think about, even acquiring a few skills (wasn’t even aware they were actual skills at the time) that I got to use to my advantage later on. Once your perspective changes (and it WILL change as you move on) you’ll also find that the years you think you have lost were not quite as worthless as you now believe - in fact, you may actually find a way to draw strength from them. Do not dishonour the past with regret because that is your life, it’s who you are - and everything you achieve from this point on, every victory -no matter how small- will be all the brighter when you look back on the darkness you are leaving behind.

Enjoy the present and plan for the future if you can, dear. I do wish you the best of luck… ;)

I know it's been discussed like ten rant posts ago, but I'm still curious. anonymous March 28 2012, 17:34:46 UTC
Re: Dear Leader Moffat, what was the OOC thing Sherlock did in Reichenbach that supposedly holds the secret to....the end of the episode or whatever. Meaning of Life.

Disregarding the Wotsits theory, which was brilliant, what were the CLUES! they dropped for the viewers?

Mark would never permit Steve to let us down so spectacularly. At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Scottish nonnie from other post

hahaha, I moved before high school.

The one and only occasion I ever de-anoned in fandom (well, I mean de-anoned beyond my lj name, which basically is still anon because there's no link to my real name if you see what I mean) was when I went to a fandom meet-up 10 years ago for another fandom long ago. And I said hello on the train platform to a girl I had been at school with, who was a bit vague when telling me about where she was heading, as was I... and of course we were heading to the same meetup in Glasgow.

...eep indeed!

:D haha, and did you become fandom friends?

I've always been a bit scared that someone i know irl will find out that i write porny fanfic because my lj and Ao3 username is the (kinda generic but still recognisable) name i use all over the internet on twitter and such. should have thought that one through, really.

the streams have not crossed so far and i intend to keep it that way ;)

Nah, she was a bit of a bully at school but she was a massive shit-stirring wanker online so I was properly horrified! And 10 years on I'm still spotting and avoiding her latest online incarnation. Oops!

Best of luck keeping your streams from crossing, nonnie. And if it does happen just always remember; it could be worse :D
