BBC Sherlock RANT POST: I missed these.

Holy Shit. We're a month away from Series 3. I may actually be excited

I've been loving Elementary, and I might be just a little bit exhausted by the rabid corners of the Sherlock fandom (just as the rabid corners of any fandom are, in fact, exhausting) but I like Benedict Cumberbatch, I'm happy to see how everything is resolved and keen on seeing ( Read more... )

They do say some stupid things over there. Frankly if it weren't for the fandom and the works by Wordstring and KeelieThompson1 I might not even like this show anymore.

I'm really in it for Andrew Scott and Rupert Graves. I'm just about exhausted by everything else. But you know, I love Sherlock Holmes so I can't really not watch it. But yeah, I totally get you.

Same here. Book, movie, play, TV. I'm a sucker for Holmes./ Watson.

Honestly, I think the only heterosexual male actor on that show is Martin. I suspect that is why they all keep putting their collective feet in their mouth when it comes to speaking to female fans.

lol. Rupert Graves is pretty heterosexual :D He said he tried to date another man once when he was younger because it was 'art-y' -- but he kept thinking about women when they went to bed together ;)

OMG.

So basically Mary Morstan, Mary Sutherland, Kate Whitney (although she barely features in her story, IIRC), Violet Hunter, and scores of other women ACD included in his stories don't matter. FFS.

And yeah, Molly = Modern Woman Who Lets Sherlock Get Away with Everything, while Sally = Stereotypical Black Bitch Who Lets Sherlock Get Away with Nothing. Fuck you, Moffat.

I saw a gif set from the recent preview clip, with Sherlock wondering aloud to Mycroft how the hell could John move out of 221B and on with his life in the two years Sherlock's been on the run. That pissed me off. Really, virtually any anticipation I may've had has long died. Not even Rupert Graves' silver foxiness (and he looks amazing in the promo pics) can bring me back. :(

Besides that, I've got enough people I follow on Tumblr who will have gif sets and meta for me to pour over. *nods*

And it's like - the series hasn't even started yet and they're already doing shit that makes me mad. And I'm not even surprised, you know?

After seeing a cute movie with an even cuter Rupert Graves, I'm seeing s3 for him (and Andrew Scott's brief appearance).

The women on Sherlock annoy me because their default characteristic is they all adore Sherlock Holmes for no reason. But that's the biggest reason I don't like the show. Everyone admires him but he gives them no reason too. There's no consequences to his assy behaviour. And I don't understand how he and John are so close when all he does is follow him around.

I blame Elementary for replacing it in my heart. Even when the show is problematic ("feminazI" and the crime that is no sign of Ms Hudson in the near future), the reactions and interactions of the characters are real. I'm just thinking of the most recent episode where Bell told Sherlock to shove it in the hospital. Would Lestrade have done the same?

Except for Sally, and the viewers are supposed to hate her because she's one of the only ones that doesn't kiss his ass.

And yeah, BBCLock has no consequences. He could get away with murder. And the Sherlock/John relationship in the show is seriously codependent and fucked up.

THIS. I am so terrified to see how they'll fit Mary into this. It's just going to be terrible.

Oh, I bet she's going to be a sassy woman who doesn't take Sherlock's lip, impresses him with her wit, but still has to prove that she does, in fact, care about John and is worthy of him.
