This is just beyond sweet. I adore a conflicted and bemused Sherlock more than any other variety, and your version is the best I think I've ever read. He clearly has no idea how much he loves John, but he's very close to an epiphany. Perhaps only twenty-four hours away. This story works beautifully as it stands, but I would so love to read a continuation. Please consider showing us the party and its aftermath. Pretty please! And Happy New Year!
