Click for Details! PROMPTING!
HOW DOES PROMPTING WORK?! you ask. Well, I have stolen this wonderful explanation from Amy's FAQ from Spring Into Sherlock.
1. Can I prompt even if I don't want to take part?
Anyone may prompt; you don't have to plan on taking part in the festival itself.
2. How many prompts can I make?
As many as you like--go nuts! Just please do skim over what's already been requested in order to avoid duplicate prompts.
3. Should I make separate prompts for art/fic/etc.?
No! Artists and authors alike will choose from the same list of prompts. To help them out, try to come up with a variety of prompts: some visual, some abstract--some specific, some general! (See sample prompts below and on the prompting post when it goes live.)
4. What should my prompt look like?
In general, like this:
CHARACTERS/PAIRING; PROMPT
A PAIRING you would like to see should be specified with a slash (i.e. Sherlock/John or Molly/Sarah). CHARACTERS you would like to see should be separated by commas (i.e. Sherlock, John, Molly, Sarah).
You can also make a prompt that doesn't specify a pairing or characters: in that case, specify ANY before your prompt.
example prompts:
# Sherlock/John; summer holiday.
# Lestrade, Donovan, Anderson, Sherlock, Watson; office picnic.
# ANY; beach volleyball turned out to be a really bad idea.
5. Can I request a crossover?
Yes. In that case, your prompt should look like this:
CHARACTERS/PAIRING; CROSSOVER CANON; PROMPT
examples:
# Sherlock, John, Scully, Mulder; X-Files; one hot summer, Sherlock teams up with Scully, and Mulder and John bond over their partners' relentless logic.
6. So where do I specify what pairings I don't want? Can I ask for fluff or angst? Can I specify what rating I'd like the final work to have?
All of these are details that will be left up to the author/artist! Since this isn't a gift exchange, works are not being produced for the prompter: prompts are meant to be inspiration, and not specific requests!
7. Do my prompts have to have a summer theme?
Yes, but it doesn't have to be very elaborate!
8. What about spoilers?
Anything in series 1 is fine to mention in your prompts. Some people don't want to know anything about series 2 yet, so don't include any spoilers for that!
PROMPTING IS OPEN 3 - 9 JUNE! After that you will be able to claim the prompts; details to follow!
Please leave your prompts as comments to this entry. Please do NOT comment on people's prompts (even to say "that would be awesome") as it makes the prompts harder to compile. I will post a specific comment thread in this entry for you to squee/have general discussion underneath! Remember, your prompts should have a loose summer theme!
