It was so much fun to see your post. I spent yesterday doing much the same thing - attending a Farmer's Market and buying fresh produce. Instead of tomatoes though, I bought several pounds of roasted green chilies. I also found a rancher (damn good-looking cowboy actually) who runs a small beef ranch: no hormones etc., all range & grass pasture fed, humanely treated & humanely slaughtered (only 2 to 3 a week) on site under extrememly sanitary conditions. He's a beliver in responsible, small-scale agriculture. Rare in the southwest. I'm impressed. His beef is expensive, but I'm a believer in Kingsolver's A-V-M ideology now too, so I am bitting the bullet and going organic, small farmer, as much as possible. "Here's cookin' at ya kiddo!"
I'm so jealous!sherriaSeptember 16 2007, 22:17:50 UTC
Roasted chilies? I can't get anything like that here. :( I love that stuff...pretty much all the typical flavours from your part of the country actually. New England flavours tend to be much less...ummm...intense I suppose.
