Knitting and Tattoos?

Well, it's all about colour, isn't it?  Not exactly two groups of people you'd expect to find together, though - the stereotypical knitter (grandmotherly, boring, nerdy) and the stereotypical tattoo collector (big, burly, scary biker types).

A friend asked me to go with him to get some more tattoo work done yesterday and I was happy to oblige.  I ( Read more... )

Ooooh, pretty yarn! What is it? I'm assuming it's self striping but I've been known to be wrong before. I should take a picture of the bag that my friends bought me the materials for for my birthday last year (2006). I knit slow, plus they had to cajole me into it.

Yes, it's self-striping. :) I think this bag is gonna rock when I felt it, though next time I'll make it a little bigger, I think. I'd love to see a pic of your bday bag!

Hey, are you on Ravelry?

I'm going to email you a tattoo picture I just scanned. Thought I could upload here. My step-daughter told us (a few years ago) that she was going to get a "little" tatoo. Little turned out to be a Morning Glory vine, in full bloom, curving around her foot and up her ankle. She drew it herself and then had the tattoo "artist" recreate it. It's very pretty, but I'm just not a tattoo fan. Just don't see how future 60-year-old bodies are going to look with the tattoos imbedded into them at a younger, tighter age.
Anyway... on to the knitting. A couple of friends have taken up knitting and have been making these amazing bags. You knit them and then shrink them, right? Knitting is huge around here lately. Everyone seems to be knitting and I have seen friends make some gorgeous things - everything from ponchos to sweaters to bags. I went to a yarn shop with a friend and was astounded by the variety, colors, and the samples of work on display. Me - can't knit a stitch but beginning to think about taking lessons.
