i'm trying to grow mine out too.
where do you go to school?
OH. you might know the answer to this.
i wanna get a beta fish. not a huge, crazy fish like you said yr man things into, just a straight up simple beta.
but i've been reading online a lotta crazy things about how petco and petsmart treat their animals and about where they get their animals.
how is yr pet store with the way they treat their animals? do you sell just supplies or animals as well?

we sell supplies and pets. we get our fish from a wholesaler in new jersey. we mostly get our small animals from local breeders. i have a betta! his name is fujitsu. ha. they're really easy to take care of, and our bettas are pretty healthy. we only have a few deaths every so often. you should come in and check them out! ha.

so i have all of the stuff and i decided i should get a new one, since i got it all still anyway.
wow, you honestly get your small animals from local breeders?
is yr pet store a small independent store?
local breeders are awesome, here's what i read about petsmart today

read their log notes. its SO ridiculously sad.
it might even be worse for you since you work at a pet store too.
i don't know anything about fish wholesalers though.
where does yr man get his fish?
and just curious, does he eat fish still, like lobster and shrimp and crap?
i want a new fish but i want to do it as ethically as possible.

a lot of fish come from fish farms. unless you buy them "wild caught". but they are harder to keep alive. my boyfriend has got most of his fish from wholesalers that get them from fish farms. he has a couple of altum angelfish which were caught in the wild.
my boyfriend has never eaten fish.
as long as you do constant water changes, the betta will be happy. which reminds me, fujitsu's water in long overdue for a water change!
when they're happy, they make bubbles!
oh, and that petsmart thing is horrible. that picture of the african grey with no feathers is so sad.
