Merlin took a step back, looking from Arthur to the creature and then back again. The last time he'd seen Arthur this wound up, bad things had happened. Bad, attempted patricidal things. And, if how tightly Arthur was gripping his sword was ant measure to go by, this was almost certainly one of those occasions.

I think you meant 'any'...
Sorry - inner beta is screaming in my brain.
I'm also VERY much enjoying this - which is probably why I pointed it out. Too good of a story to have errors.
*goes to second part*

Well, parts of it did look wolf-like. In the same way a dragon looked like a lizard.

That is just a brilliant line. This is fabulous!

I enjoyed this vividly drawn chapter. Plunging into the story with Merlin running for his life captured my imagination and I enjoyed the shifting timeline. Merlin's reaction to Arthur already being dressed was quite funny. It seems his prediction of terrible things afoot is coming true. Those creatures with their too intelligent eyes and near human hands are really creepy. The fact they can speak makes them creepier still.

I'm off to see how Merlin and Arthur get out of this.

Don't facepalm. Trust me, I pass my stories out to 6 betas and they ALL catch different things - then I'll go over the revised copies and STILL catch errors.

To err is to be human, lovely.
Be happy we're not machines.
Or Wayne Newton.
