Curious.

I just thought that I would paste this into my little journal, considering that it's doubtful that the majority of you are capable of reading anything besides these inane things. I've had better things to do until now, but far be it from me to deny the lesser just because I can. After all, I've always liked to think of myself as being rather ( Read more... )

Oh, poor everyone, you know. Especially poor what's-his-name. It says right in that article, let me reread. Christopher Black. Except not. Anyone foolish enough to be involved with something like that deserves whatever retribution they're dealt.

Why don't you...leave Mexico? It must be sweltering heat down there...

Hm.

It is. And I wish. But Uncle refuses to let me leave. Isn't that awful? Apparently he doesn't trust me to be on my own at the estate for the summer, for some ridiculous reason.

I can scarcely leave the hotel room without feeling as if I'm going to pass out from the heat. It's disgusting. I'd use the pool, but I'm not sure if it's clean.

I'd stay away from the pool, if I were you. One never knows what kind of bacteria can develop in warm water like that. And you don't want to take any chances.

Your uncle must be a bit old-fashioned. Everyone knows you could handle yourself perfectly well on your own.

Precisely what I was thinking.

He is. He says "it's a dangerous world out there, Tracey." As if Mexico is at all safe! It's incredibly irritating. Mother would have let me go anywhere, but no. I'd run off, but he'd probably freeze my accounts or something equally dreadful if I left the continent.

The only restrictions that have been placed upon me where those instated by my parents and my uncle. However, given that I am now of age, they really have very little say in what I can and can not do. However, all that said, I do believe the Ministry is having me watched. So leaving the country would be rather pointless, don't you agree?

I'm dreadfully sorry about Mexico and it truly is horrible that he'd keeping you there longer and longer. You could simply hex the Spanish whore. And when are you going to get your Apparating lisence. I'm sure that would cure quite a few of your problems.

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to respond, Daphne darling. I don't check this thing often.

It's horrible, though, that they've tried. And, ugh, is all I can say to that! The Ministry! A bunch of bumbling idiots, all of them. It would be pointless, though, given that they'll just be tracking you and likely drag you back in for questioning. It looks like our travels are out of the question now, unfortunately. Hopefully I'll get back before the summer is over, and we can find something to do.

Thank you; I agree. I could hex her, but ever since I tried to slip Uncle that potion that Millicent brewed for me, he's been rather wary, and said that any "inappropriate magic" from me would result in the permanent freezing of my funds.

Ugh, Apparition. I took the test, and I failed, the idiot instructor Sorry, ink smudged. It's disgusting, how hot it is here. Anyway, I'm schedule to take it within a few weeks.

Oh it's perfectly alright, Tracey. I can completely understand that you have better things to be doing - or wretched people to be avoiding.

I'm just rather tired of it all, if I'm being honest. I'd like the Ministry to leave me alone and everyone else as well. And hopefully you're right - your uncle is a toad, Tracey. I tried to think the best of him, I did, but I just can't any longer. He threatened to freeze you funds? Even my parents have never stooped so low.

Tell me though - what was that potion supposed to do again? Render him...impotent? Ugh. Contemplating it make me feel ill...when applied to the image I've built of your uncle, I mean. It was quite a clever idea, though. I wish it had worked.

And that's quite alright, dear, I wish you the best of luck with it. The instructors are absolutely horrid, most of the time.

I knew you'd understand.

Their acts are growing tiresome. In fact, they were tiresome the minute they began. I've always hated the Ministry.

I know. It never was like this before. He's become disgusting, drunk with power or something after my mother's untimely demise. As if that wasn't traumatising enough! Oh, I just hate him.

Impotent, yes. I wish it had, too.

Thank you. I'm hoping that I do well or I'll never live it down.

Tracey,

I'm terribly sorry you're not enjoying Mexico. I'd thought you'd at least be able to find something with which to amuse yourself. I'll be taking a day trip there this weekend with Gerard - evidently he needs to do something or other for the Incans there - though he's not even technically working with them yet.

I don't pretend to understand it, but he asked me to go. So perhaps I'll see you?

Thank you, Ethan. It's good to have someone understand. I'm as disappointed as I'm sure you are that you were wrong, but I always suspected it, so it isn't a surprise. Hopefully I'll just be out of here soon.

That would be wonderful! Whereabouts will you be? I'm dying to see a familiar, civilised face amongst these...

Oh, it's just awful. I can't talk about it anymore; I might faint.

Please don't faint - it might be rather difficult for you to write your reply and for us to work out dates and such if you do. And we really couldn't have that, now could we?

I've spoken with Gerard and he said he'd most likely need to travel up on the 20th or there abouts...so? Would that be alright?

I'll try not to. After all, I wouldn't want you falling into a pit of despair and drinking yourself silly. Also, I would miss the company, I'm sure. It's been dismal over here.

That sounds acceptable. Just come to my hotel lobby, actually, and we'll take it from there. I don't feel like standing in some crowded, unfamiliar place searching for you.
