Here's how today went: she was acting a little weird, so I kept an eye out for anything that could be a symptom of something. After a couple hours, I picked her up for a cuddle, like ya do. That's when I noticed the pus. I set her down, picked up my phone, called the vet, and she was in the exam room 45 minutes later.
He took a pus culture so he'd know exactly which antibiotics to give her and a blood sample to determine whether it's spread to any of her other organs. He shot her up with one across-the-board antibiotic, so she'd have something kicking ass in there while we wait for the culture results. Tomorrow we're going back so he can check on her condition.
Essentially, he's trying to avoid having to do an emergency spay lest the uterus rupture and spill virulent goo into her abdominal cavity, but if that's what he has to do, then that's what he will do.
The pisser is that I had planned to call tomorrow and schedule her spay. Now we get this. Boo.
