dont do the multiplication do it this way

25+3+2=30
30-2-3=25

OH when you're doing the math and you see it as
27+2=29 that's not even what you should be looking at
i think it's like you gotta work from the $25 up

does it make sense... i think they're just giving you those problems to confuse you.... i dont know... tell me if i helped at all

see i tried to look at it that way too...but where it keeps getting me is when it says they each originally paid 10 right...then each got one dollar back...so technically they did each only pay 9.... even without multiplying if u just add 9+9=18+9=27 then 2 to the bell boy= 29 still i dont get it...i know technically it is not possible...but thats the part that keeps fucking getting me but i totally see what youre saying...ahh i dont know...
