On my last trip to England, the substantive changes were that the pick-a-teddy machines now contain angry birds, and Sainsbury's sells newspapers in Polish. Otherwise, much the same.

I had much the same experience this Christmas. However, I had a slight feeling of unfamiliarity when going back, and I think that would be enhanced if I actually stayed there for a month or so. Perhaps not as much as those more connected to their local communities, though.
