Snowflake Challenge, Day 14

Jan 14, 2013 17:19

Today's challenge probably couldn't have come at a better time for me, really. Lately I've been really frustrated with certain Hanson fans' antics, and torn between squeeing over how awesome BTTI is and being sad that I can't go next year (I will, however, attempt to do MOE, tour and Disney, since none of them require a huge and immediate deposit ( Read more... )

ya know, I've been out of touch with everything hanson since 2008(though 2006 is when I left the States...)
I bought the walk but I haven't had money for new music since take the walk ep.. not that I haven't heard the new stuff..

but somethings never change. I'm glad I can observe from afar and not be pressured to get to concerts.   sure, I still get a thrill hearing about them, but I like to think that if I ever met them again it wouldn't faze me...not the least because I wouldn't even touch them. (I'm an Orthodox Jew... and I enjoy zaylor- in theory... is that a contradiction? im not sure)
I'd love to see them some day again. but I'm happy to look from afar.

For lots of reasons (a mixture of falling in and out of the fandom, being busy, and just being too young), I didn't see/meet them until 2010, so I get really annoyed by the insinuation that you have to be everywhere and do everything to be a fan. You really, really don't! If you like the music, you're a fan. Period. If looking/enjoying from afar works for you, then more power to you! :D

I'm one of the people kind of hating on Jamaica. If people want to go with their friends, have a trip together, and get some Hanson shows, that's fine. Once again, people take it too far.. Trying to pet Zac, climbing on stages, or spending their trip on the phone telling is every teeny tiny bit of info. Just enjoy your trip. Then the people going next year literally can NOT talk about anything else as if they're leaving tomorrow.

I've been in the fandom since pretty much the beginning, but I've just never possessed that passion about it, even if I was faithful. Maybe it has to do with my dad having a slightly similar job to the guys and having his own following of batty fans.. It never sat comfortably with me so I just avoid fans who are like that. When the topic is just consuming my feed with everyone trying to find out if a Hanson or wife had a bathroom break so far in the day... It's just pushing it too far and makes me angry.

To each his own, obviously. I know literally one person who went on the trip, is having a good time, yet ( ... )

Honestly, I don't know how much crazy shit is actually going down there. Someone I know was there when Zac was apparently being petted, and she hasn't mentioned it. Sounds like some girls did go nuts on stage tonight, but the sentence, "Isaac is not a stripper pole" just amuses me too much for me to actually be angry about it, haha. Aside from that, the one person I've spoken to a lot about the event said that she's been surprised by how chill and sane the fans there have been, so... Of course, everyone will see different things and have a different opinion. I learned a long time ago that if three fansons see something happen, they'll tell you four different stories about what went down ( ... )

I'm just that kind of person who gets sick of hearing about the same thing over and over.. And with majority of my feed being fan friends.. Well.. yeah. On normal days, I love them, but during event times, they literally can't talk about anything else, and that makes me a bit crazy when i have to scroll through hundreds of the same tweets & RTs and pics. If you went, fine, and if you didn't, again.. Cool. There's the saying: beating a dead horse.. That's what they do and personally, I get sick of it, but I take my breaks.. After I post a few snarky things if I so choose.

I still love the guys despite some things they do and don't do. I have albums I don't care for, songs I don't like, wives I'd like to kick around, merch mistakes, etc, but I still enjoy them overall which is what counts. I have a history with them as does everyone else and they've been a long and wonderful part of my life, which i hope continues.

Maybe Jamaica was chill, but my social feeds certainly were not. To each his own, but I'm just definitely not the fan that ( ... )

Maybe I'm bad about the whole "fan" thing. I definitely feel that way most times. Haha.

That's kinda my point, though. Until you're doing something harmful to the guys, you're really not a bad fan. At least in my eyes. Everyone does things a little differently, and that's cool. I've definitely had to take time off from the guys before, and I did it because it was best for me at the time. I'll admit to being a pretty enthusiastic fan now, but that's just me. As long as you're not being hateful about it and insisting you're a better fan than other people, then in my eyes, you're alright.

Oh, and tour details have definitely not been released yet. I'm just planning ahead, lol.

well, I'm glad its not all over my feed..but zac being petted sounds...funny? what was his reaction?

I don't remember hearing about a reaction. I saw several tweets about petting Zac and climbing the stage to climb on his drums. Why the fans seem to torture Zac mostly out of all three confuses me. Although, I did hear a few were using Isaac as a stripper pole last night and Taylor mentioned beating them off with a stick. Wow.. that sounded all sorts of wrong. Those are just a few things I read via twitter feed.
