oh my lettuce

have u ever tried to peel/break off the lettuce leaves without cutting it in half first or taking the middle section out? it is one of the hardest things ever. those leaves are wrapped so tight! anyway, i know this is quite a random post but i wanted to share my frustration. heheh. we were making lettuce wrap yesterday cuz we had guests over. i

My mom said you can cut the hard core/bottom (you don't have to cut it out, you just stick your knife in it?) and then put water in it? I dunno, I can't explain it very well in words :p

ha!!! really??? dang that sounds cool..but slightly complicated? >

If you bang the bottom on the counter really sharply twice, then grab the base, twist and pull, it will come right out. Put water in it, and the leaves will relax a bit and it all separates perfectly.

ohhh okay i guess that's what sabrina's mom was saying. crazy!!!!! that's so cool. now i want to try and peel lettuce leaves again. thnx jen!!! ^_^
