Interesting theory.
I suppose that prosecuting him does undermine the respect thing, since back when cops could do whatever the hell they wanted without fear of being busted by video , and when 'upright citizens' felt that whatever an arrestee got, they deserved, thre WAS a lot more respect for cops.
Funny, isn't it ?

That video is really upsetting. This cop just sounds like baaaad news.

In 2006 he shot a mentally ill man 11 times and then:

"Shortly after the shooting while on administrative leave, Schene was stopped for driving under the influence.

He had been drinking and taking prescription medication, according to court records. He received a deferred sentence and was placed on probation, records show."

All I know is that if I slammed my child against a wall, pulled her down to the floor by her hair and sat on top of her and punched her I'd be in jail charged with child abuse. There is NO excuse for ever behaving like that. Period. And, please! She took her mom's car out for a joy ride. A stupid move, yes, but nothing that warrants that kind of treatment. Oh, and my favorite part is that he had the balls to book her on 3rd degree assault charges after he sat on her and punched her multiple times ( ... )

It didn't say the man was -sitting-.

I agree that his actions were beyond justifiable with the girl though.

Pretty blatant case of misconduct there. Makes me sad. We need police in so many places, but they have to go and abuse their power here...
